Taroudant, located 80 km east of Agadir in the Souss Valley, is a city teeming with orange, olive, and argan plantations. It is uniquely positioned between the High Atlas to the north and the Anti-Atlas to the south, with the Souss River flowing through it. According to local legend, the Berber name “Taroudant” comes from the phrase “Taroua ddante,” meaning “the children have been swept away (by the water),” as cried by a Berber woman on the riverbank when a flood took her children.
