Your adventure begins with a visit to the historic Agadir Oufella Kasbah, a fortress constructed in 1572 by Sultan Moulay Abdallah el-Ghalib to safeguard the harbor. Although the 1960 earthquake left much of the structure in ruins, the restored walls still offer breathtaking panoramic views of Agadir Bay and the bustling port. Above the entrance, an inscription reads: “Fear God and Honor Your King.”

Next, take in the vibrant atmosphere of Agadir’s port, one of the country’s most significant, before proceeding to the Mohammed V Mosque, an architectural gem showcasing Moroccan design.

The tour continues through the city’s residential quarter, providing insight into local lifestyles, followed by a visit to a women’s argan oil cooperative. Here, you’ll observe the traditional methods of extracting this valuable oil and learn about its various uses and benefits.

Visitors could once explore various sections, including the trawler docks, sardine fleet, wooden boat construction sites, and the lively fish auction (la criée) held in the mornings. Adjacent to the port, local seafood restaurants offered an array of fresh fish and shellfish dishes.

In recent years, however, access to the port has been restricted for tourists and unauthorized locals due to undisclosed reasons. While this limits direct exploration, the surrounding areas still provide ample opportunities to experience Agadir's rich maritime heritage and savor its renowned seafood cuisine

Agadir Oufella Kasbah: A Historic Fortress with Panoramic Views

Visitors can immerse themselves in the lively atmosphere, witnessing locals in traditional dress and engaging in daily commerce. The market operates daily, with the notable Tuesday Souk evolving into a permanent fixture.
